The City of Auburn, Maine (pop. 23,200) is seeking candidates for a full-time City Clerk, who is responsible for the care, safekeeping, disposition, and preservation of public records. The Clerk also manages, prepares, and supervisors all City elections, city licenses, permits as well as prepares for and takes minutes of the Auburn City Council meetings. The Clerk is responsible for ensuring the City adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, as it pertains to municipal clerk responsibilities. The Clerk’s budget is approximately $115,000 and is responsible for supervising several part-time employees and volunteers. The City Clerk is a department manager and works in conjunction with finance staff for counter clerk assistance.
Preference will be given to a candidate who possess progressive supervisory experience; is a Maine Certified Clerk; is or can obtain their notary; can demonstrate exceptional customer service skills; has excellent written and oral communication skills; has extensive experience with Microsoft Office software; and, has an associate’s degree in business administration or equivalent related work experience.
